Taller de la FAO sobre el Trabajo Infantil en la Pesca y la Acuicultura, en cooperación con la OIT, Roma 14-16 Abril 2010

 

Objetivos del taller

  • Proporcionar un foro donde los participantes puedan  intercambiar y debatir conocimientos, experiencias y buenas prácticas sobre el trabajo infantil en la pesca y la acuicultura, y las formas de abordar las cuestiones del trabajo infantil.
  • Desarrollar un conjunto de recomendaciones, asesorar y definir las acciones que pueden ser aplicadas por los gobiernos, las organizaciones internacionales, las organizaciones de pescadores, la industria pesquera y otras partes interesadas.

 Examining the problem of child labour in fisheries, fish processing and aquaculture

 

3 parallel working groups: Capture fisheries/ Aquaculture / Post-harvest operations, all addressing:

  • Understanding the nature and scope of child labour in fisheries, fish processingand aquaculture, including identifying the types of activities that children undertake, by age, by sex. 
  • Clarifying the concepts oflight work and hazardous work.
  • Identifying causes, including the role of poverty, that contribute to child labour in fisheries and aquaculture.
  • Identifying consequences and impacts of child labour in fishing, fish processing and aquaculture, including the potential health impacts of specific activities and working conditions in fisheries sector related work.

Identifying solutions of child labour in fisheries, aquaculture, and post-harvest operations

 

3 parallel working groups: Capture fisheries/ Aquaculture / Post-harvest operations, all addressing:

  • Determining what types of fisheries sector related activities need to be included in the “hazardous child labour lists” and other policy interventions.
  • Identification of means for reducing risk for youth of legal working age.  Identification of alternatives to the use of hazardous technologies.
  • Documenting practical measures that can be taken by different stakeholder groups and at different levels (international, national, local) to address causes and consequences of child labour.
